Grafting Workshops

A series of funded Grafting workshops delivered across East Birmingham. Inviting local residents to learn the art of grafting fruit trees and take away their own free fruit tree to care for.

“The grafting events were brilliant. Everything was beautifully laid out with a wide selection of heritage apple scions for us to choose from and Lawrence was really knowledgeable about the different varieties. He demonstrated the grafting techniques really clearly so we all felt confident having a go ourselves and he explained the aftercare needed, as well as answering all our questions. The sessions were accessible and engaging for everyone, of all ages and skill levels. Our grafted trees are thriving and I have since used the skills I learned during the session to produce more successful grafts and to teach the technique to a group of young people I work with. It was fascinating to gain such a practical understanding of the traditional methods used to grow fruit trees and I feel I now have the confidence to expand our existing Community Orchard and hopefully start more orchards in the future.”
